30.04.2025Reopening of the Montréjeau–Luchon Railway Line
After ten years of inactivity, the former SNCF railway line between Montréjeau and Luchon has been completely renovated by order of the Occitanie Region. The 36-kilometre line, featuring 25 level crossings, underwent a full modernisation and infrastructure upgrade.
Schweizer Electronic AG was responsible for the implementation and commissioning of the level crossing systems. All 25 level crossings were successfully put into operation at the end of April 2025. The systems are based on control units specifically adapted to the French market, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
Rail traffic is scheduled to resume on 22 June 2025, in the scenic surroundings of the French Pyrenees.
